Our Efforts in Haiti
Prestel
Two water filtration units were sent back to Prestel, Haiti with Sister Josephine Dybza and one of her colleagues with Sisters of St. Francis. These filters will help provide clean drinking-water to areas in Prestel.
Village Communities
Water the World currently has 4 mobile, solar-powered irrigation systems with clean drinking-water attachments on the ground in the outlying villages surrounding, Cange,
a village in the central-plateau region. The villages of Bernico, Bas-Cange, Site Jane, and Chapateau each have a system to help water larger gardens and filter clean water. This is helping to reduce food and water insecurity in these communities providing a healthy, happier, culture.
Water the World currently has one mobile, solar-powered irrigation unit with a clean drinking-water attachment at the Wings of Hope Home in Jacmel, Haiti. This system helps with gardening and household chores as well as providing clean water. Five other smaller filters have been distributed though the surrounding community.

Hippo Roller
In May of 2017 the Hippo-Roller Organization based in South Africa contacted Water the World about partnering together to get some of their products into Haiti. Water the World reached out to our friends at Orphan Grain Train and secured locations that need these products. The Hippo-Roller is a durable cylinder that is pushed with a handle helping transport 10 times more water than traditional means. The Hippo-Roller organization is endorsed by the late Nelson Mandela! This is a great opportunity for Water the World!
Cange
While in country in March, Brandon Holder traveled to one of the most remove villages in the central plateau region to see their water situation. After a two-hour motorcycle ride into the countryside, Brandon and his guides finally arrived in the village. Upon arrival, work stopped, school let out, and everyone left their house to come crowd around Brandon. All the villagers touched Brandon’s hair and skin and the guides told him he was the first white person they had ever seen. Brandon saw their terrible water situation and handed out filters to the villagers and plans to set up a water filtration facility in the village common area. This will help provide the villagers clean water for their families.
After securing funding from Fortiline WaterWorks and P&A Manufacturing, we sat out to start building our in-country facility. This facility, when operating can filter 1,045 gallons of clean, safe water every 30 minutes. This facility will provide clean drinking water to 10,000+ people throughout the central plateau region. This facility will also employ workers to filter and deliver water, helping provide a stable economy to the village of Cange. Check out a few pictures!
In March of 2017, the Water the World executive team traveled to Cange, Hiait to take water filters to outlying villagers as well as se the progress on the new in-country water filtration facility. The in-country facility, funded by Fortiline WaterWorks and P&A Manufacturing, was in the final stages of completion. The Water the World team headed out to Tierra Muscady to deliver filters to those who needed them. Check out a few pictures!
While in Haiti in November, Brandon and Lauryn took 20 disposable cameras to give to children in the Episcopal School for the week. This project’s purpose was to show the day-to-day life of a child in Haiti. Check out a few pictures!
On November 23rd, Brandon Holder and Lauryn Polo traveled to Cange, Haiti to distribute filters to villages and survey a land site for Water the World’s new in-country water filtration facility. Brandon and Lauryn delivered filters to families in need in the outskirt villages of Bas-Cange and Tierra Muscady. These Filters will give 5,000 people clean water in these regions. Land in Cange was donated to Water the World so we could begin construction on our in country facility. Check out a few pictures!
On October 4th, 2016 category four Hurricane Matthew hit the southern claw of Haiti near Les Cayes. In response, Water the World partnered with High Point University and Orphan Grain Train to send 16 large-scale irrigation and filter units to the Les Cayes community. This effort will provide clean drinking-water and irrigation to 15,000 people. For information on how to help, contact us at HERE.
